PENDAHULUAN :
Perawatan mempunyai peran yang sangat penting dalam memelihara kontinuitas proses manufaktur, sehingga sistem mampu meningkatkan keluaran dengan tingkat kualitas dan kuantitas yang tinggi. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) merupakan salah satu sistem perawatan proaktif dengan pendekatan yang melibatkan seluruh elemen organisasi, melakukan peningkatan terhadap produk, meningkatkan efisiensi operasi maupun menjaga keselamatan kerja.
TPM melibatkan pengguna untuk diajak partsipasi aktif melalui pelaksanaan perawatan mandiri. TPM berarti total keterlibatan setiap karyawan, keefektifitasan mesin dan alat, dan pelayanan sistem perawatan, sehingga mempunyai potensi untuk mengintegrasikan bagian produksi dan bagian perawatan serta bagian lainnya dalam melakukan pengembangan secara bersama.
Untuk mendukung sistem produksi yang memadai diperlukan tenaga kerja yang handal atau peningkatan keahlian tenaga kerja profesi Total Productive Maintenance.

was graduated from politeknik universitas brawijaya malang for his diploma in mechanical engineering majoring on mechanical maintenance and repairing, from ITS Surabaya for his bachelor in mechanical engineering majoring on production engineering, and from ITB Bandung for his master program in mechanical engineering majoring on production engineering. Now he is as lecturer at mechanical engineering Politeknik Negeri Bandung(before as poltek ITB). Ir. Sugeng Isdwiyanudi, MT. has followed many trainings/courses to improve his competence.
