1. Mempelajari dasar dari sistem PBX (arsitektur dan teknologi)
2. Memahami sistem IP-PBX (arsitektur dan teknologi). Dibandingkan dengan sistem yang baru seperti: Cisco System Avvid IP Telephony Systems dengan sistem IP-PBX dari vendor lain
3. Menggali keunggulan dan keandalan dari suatu switching PBX
4. Mereduksi ketergantungan dari suatu sistem vendor dan konsultan untuk mengevaluasi dan memilih sistem PABX
5. Mengenali kemampuan unjuk kerja dari sistem PBX: desktop communications, call distribution management, networking, dan messaging
6. Menggali kemampuan sistem PBX dalam masalah mobile communication, multimedia applications dan broadband networking

Dr. Ir. Ian Josef Matheus Edward, MT adalah praktisi IT semenjak tahun 1993, seorang dosen Teknik Elektro ITB yang menamatkan gelar Doktornya di Manajemen Telekomunikasi Teknik Elektro Universitas Indonesia. Beliau juga seorang Project Manager riset bersama pengembangan system radio non line of sight untuk daerah rural RDC Telkom, Project Manager Konsultasi radio Trunking untuk Oil Company, Team Wind Energy, Telemetry and Telecommunication Systems – International Project, Dubai dan India juga Team Telecommunication System Project Laos. Beliau adalah penanggung jawab pelatihan IT Untuk Pertamina, Bank Indonesia, BRI dan Exelcomindo.
